Important Information March 17, 2008 After 45 years of educating children in the Calumet region, Calumet Baptist Jr./Sr. High School would like to announce that beginning with the 2008/2009 school year, we will be joining together with Calvary Christian School, a ministry of Calvary Baptist Church in Highland. The goal and mission of CBS has always been to assist Christian parents in the educating of their children spiritually while maintaining a solid emphasis in academics. We believe that this can be best accomplished by combining our two schools together. We are humbled and excited by the success we have seen by those who have passed through CBS. Our graduates represent the full spectrum of careers both spiritual and secular. Over the years we have met the challenge of setting academic standards which are now recognized by colleges and universities. During the last two years, our valedictorians have had the privilege of attending Purdue Calumet on a full academic scholarship. Over the past few years, our school has competed in the IACS state academic competition. Our school of 25 students competes against over 20 other Christian schools from throughout the state. These schools range in size with most having many more than ours, including schools with over 200 in their high school. Each year our students earn many 1st and 2nd places in the academic tests. Just last week our students participated in this year’s competition. Of the 10 students who participated, we had one first place (accounting) and three 2nd places (algebra/geometry, poetry, and home economics). Over the 45 year history of Calumet Baptist we have been blessed with many wonderful staff members. In recent years, we could not have asked for a more dedicated and loving staff. We pray that the Lord bless them for this for years to come. Finally, we thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts who have supported Calumet Baptist School by entrusting their children to us over the last 45 years. We look forward to continuing to assist Christian parents through our combined effort as part of Calvary Christian School. Our MissionOur mission at Calumet Baptist Schools is to assist the home in developing, equipping, and training young people; physically, spiritually, academically and physically in a Christian environment consistent with clear Biblical doctrine, who will share this knowledge with the world.
Who is Calumet Baptist School?
Calumet Baptist High School is an independent Christian School operated by a cooperative of local churches. We run a traditional Jr./Sr. High School schedule with the students being taught by teachers focusing on the subject in which their strengths are. We accept students of all denominations. The size of our school allows for personal attention to your student by the teachers, as well as, a close family relationship among the students. This all translates to an academic atmosphere that helps your student succeed. Our graduates have been accepted at any college which they have applied to, many have received scholarships.
